Prairie City School Build A New Biomass Boiler System

A new biomass boiler system broke ground by Portland-based Wisewood Inc., at Prairie City School last week. Biomass energy fuel is the main product of this Portland-based company. The construction will start in early July and the biomass boiler is expected to running in October 2012.

“The project will be the fourth large biomass installment in Grant County among the past few years” said by Nerissa Lindefelser, project manager of Wisewood Inc. This new biomass boiler system will utilize wood pellets as energy resource. The pellets are supplied by Malheur Lumber Company with discounted price and it will be the main supplier over the next 10 years.

With this boiler system, the high school building, cafeteria and gym will be warmed by steam heat. According to Lindenfelser, in the first year of operation, the school will save money including the loan payments.
